OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 10, 2018) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce this week’s recipient of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week award is Christopher Hale and the No. 79 Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock team.
The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.
The Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock division saw another first-time winner in the 20-Lap feature on Bradshaw Brothers Emergency Services Night as Christopher Hale came from the 12th position to park his No. 79 Monte Carlo in victory lane last Friday.
Ryan Dinning started on the pole when the green flag dropped as a competitive field of Thunder Stock cars gave chase behind him. As they came into turn 4, Bleich had come from the fifth starting position to take the early lead. There was plenty of exciting five-wide racing behind Bleich and by lap three Hale and Ken Sargent were racing side by side for second with Hale successfully taking over the position with Sargent, Blake Bomberry and Rob Hoskins close behind.
Hale stayed on the inside of Bleich and raced wheel to wheel until a lap 10 restart that saw Hale change his line and drive to the top to take the lead. Despite several minor cautions, Hale maintained the lead on each following restart.
A final caution with 4 laps to go had the Thunder Stocks in a single file restart. Hale jumped to a lead of several car lengths with Bleich and Ryan Beagle battling for second and Dave Bailey, Sargent and DeBoer racing side by side for third.
Hale held off his competitors as they rounded the final turn and claimed the checkered flag and his first ever victory. Congratulations to Chris Hale and the No. 79 Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock team on their very first win. Ohsweken Speedway wishes them continued success for the remainder of the 2018 season.
