OHSWEKEN, Ontario (September 12, 2018) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce that the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car event scheduled for this Saturday night at the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals will now be called the Nitro 54 Crate Showdown and pay $1,000-to-win; Nitro 54 Variety will also present the Hard Charger Award in the 360 Sprint Car portion of Saturday’s event.

The Nitro 54 Crate Showdown will pay Saturday night’s Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car feature winner $1,000, second place $750, third place $500, and every A-Feature starter a minimum of $100. Nitro 54 will also present a $250 CAD Hard Charger Award to the driver who advances the most positions in Saturday’s 35 lap Canadian Sprint Car Nationals A-Feature for the 360 Sprint Cars.

The Canadian Sprint Car Nationals event is known for drivers charging from deep in the field; Davie Franek claimed last year’s Hard Charger Award by driving from 26th on the grid to finish 11th, while Chuck Hebing drove from 24th to fourth in 2016. Bryan Howland scored an unforgettable win from 20th in 2015, Jessica Zemken won from row seven in 2014, and Wayne Johnson drove from 24th to second in 2011, but perhaps the most memorable CSCN charge came in 2012; Randy Hannagan started last in both the Little Feature and A-Feature in 2012, passing a combined 47 cars in 50 laps to finish 15th overall.

Many other cash prizes are also be available, including $10,000 USD for Saturday’s A-Feature winner, and a minimum $1,000 USD for every Saturday night A-Feature starter; visit www.ohswekenspeedway.com for more information about the purse and cash awards available during the 14th Annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend.
