OHSWEKEN, Ont. (September 7, 2018) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce this week’s recipient of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week award is Christopher Hale and the No. 79 Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock team from Guelph, Ont.The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.

Epic Racewear Back to School Backpack Night saw the night begin with the rescheduled Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks 50-lap and $2,000-to-win Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Cash Blast before running the regularly scheduled 20-lap Feature. Hale managed to pull off a sweep of the night in his No.79 machine.

The 50-lap feature saw Hale start in the 10th position in a field of 28 competitive cars. Lee Winger quickly took the lead over Liverance with Aaron Turkey, Chris Dickie and Chris Hale hot on his heels. A caution on lap six saw Hale head to the pits for damage to his front end but quick work by the No. 79 crew had Hale back out on the tail of the lead lap for the restart. Winger maintained the lead until lap eight when Dave Bailey took over the first spot with Trevor DeBoer and Hale racing side-by-side for second. Several cautions and 23 laps later, Hale drove to the bottom and drove his way into first and stayed out front of Bailey to take the victory and the $2,000 Gale’s Cash Blast winner’s prize.

The second regular feature of the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock division saw 28 cars line up for the 20-lap event. Aaron Rewutzsky and Liverance led the charge to green but contact between Brian Teeple and Rob Hoskins had them at a full restart. Rewutzsky quickly took the lead but another caution flag flew, and Hale was quick to take the lead on the restart. Despite a number of cautions that saw multiple drivers removed to the pits with damage, Hale held the lead and pulled away with a lead of several cars lengths to take the checkers and his second win of the night in the No.79 Monte Carlo.

Congratulations to Chris Hale and the No. 79 Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock team on an outstanding night of racing with back-to-back wins in a single night. Ohsweken Speedway wishes Hale and his team continued success for the remainder of the 2018 season.
