OHSWEKEN, Ont. (June 20, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are proud to announce 15-year-old Donny Lampman and the No. 28d Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock team is recipient of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week award for the event on June 14. The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during the Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.

Friday, June 14 was Core-Mark Wall of Fame and Kids Race night. Second generation driver Donny Lampman started the 20-lap Thunder Stock Feature in the seventh position in a strong field of competitive cars. Mark Bauzin and Chris Dickie brought the field to the green flag. Bauzin quickly took the lead over Dickie as they lead the field through turn one. A quick caution saw Hale come to a stop in the bottom of turn one and two and put Lampman in the third spot behind Dickie on the restart.

Working the inside groove, Lampman raced side by side with Dickie and pulled ahead into second by lap four. The hood of Dickie’s car flew off and through the field of cars bringing out the second caution of the event. Bauzin and Lampman lined up side by side for the green flag restart with Lampman jumping into the lead with a strong start over Bauzin with Mark Fawcett and Dave Bailey giving chase.

By the halfway point of the race Lampman held the lead by several car lengths and began to maneuver through lapped traffic. Lampman continued to pull away from the rest of the field by half a straightaway when Jon Lowenberg experienced rad problems and limped the car off the track at lap 17, preventing a caution flag coming out.

The race remained green and Lampman led the field to the checkers with a three-second lead over Bailey, Ken Sargent, Billy Bleich and Ryan Dinning for his very first career trip to Mister Transmission Victory Lane. Congratulations to Lampman and the No.28d on his first career win and a great race.
