OHSWEKEN, Ont. (June 13, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are proud to announce this week’s of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week Award is Dylan Westbrook and the Hill’s Racing No. 47x 360 Sprint Car team.

The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during the Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.

Friday, June 7 was Minor Sports Night presented by the Rochester Knighthawks. Westbrook, the defending champion of the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint car division and two-time winner already this season, found himself in the seventh starting position in a field of 24 cars for the 20-lap Feature.  Mack DeMan and Ryan Turner started on the front row to lead the field to the double green flags to start the race. While DeMan and Turner battled for first and second position, Westbrook quickly covered rough terrain on the high side to gain the fourth spot and began chasing Mitch Brown for third.

A caution at lap five for Cole McDonald saw the field restart with DeMan, R.Turner, Brown, Westbrook and Scott Kreutter rounding out the top five. Westbrook held the top, with Brown in the middle and Kreutter on the bottom as they came into turn two. Westbrook came out in the third position on lap six. Westbrook was in hot pursuit of R.Turner with exciting side by side racing that saw Westbrook take over the second position on lap 11. Despite a caution on lap 12, DeMan continued to hold the lead while navigating lapped traffic. Westbrook weaved his way around the lapped cars and with two laps to go was closing the gap on DeMan.

As the white flag flew, DeMan and Westbrook drove hard for the finish line with Westbrook tucking down low through turn three to steal the trip to Mister Transmission Victory Lane away from DeMan and earn his third consecutive win. Kreutter, Jim Huppunen and Cory Turner completed the top five. This is Westbrook’s 25th career win at Ohsweken, which is only two wins away from tying current track record holder Glenn Styres. Congratulations to Westbrook and the No.47x team for a great race!

Westbrook will be back in action as Ohsweken Speedway returns to action on Friday June 14 as Core-Mark presents Wall of Fame Night and Kids Race for the Canadian National Autism Foundation. The Ohsweken Speedway Wall of Fame will welcome its five new inductees, John and Wendy Brush, Ryan Hunsinger, Rob Pietz and Zeger Van Thuyl. All four of Ohsweken’s weekly divisions will be in action, including the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks.
