OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 12, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week for July 5 is Fabio Olivieri and the No.16 HRW Automotive Mini Stock team. The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during the Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.

The HRW Automotive Mini Stocks started the night of racing with a makeup feature from June 28 that was rained out race. The 15-lap Feature saw Aidan Nigh and Mike Giberson leading the 24-car field to green.

Nigh quickly gained the lead on the first lap followed by Trevor Want. By lap five, Olivieri and Jason Tolton were running side by side for third when Nigh slowed in the bottom of turns one and two, allowing Want to take the lead.

Olivieri raced to second and began gaining on Want. They led the field by several car lengths while Tolton, Kyle Wert and Jonathan Ayrton battled for the remaining top five positions.

Olivieri took over the lead at lap nine but they were brought to caution on lap 10 when Tim Nuell found himself rolled on his drivers side door at the top of turn three. Nuell and his car were unhurt but required a push to the pits, unable to finish the feature.

Olivieri and Wantt paced the field to the restart with Olivieri successfully maintaining his lead while they raced four-wide behind him. Olivieri opened up a good lead while Wert and Tim DeBoer raced door to door for the second spot with Wert proving successful. Wert was able to get to Olivieri’s door through the turns but Olivieri held him off on the straightaway and raced to his first career Mini Stock checkered flag followed by Wert, DeBoer, Ayrton and Cole Hardy rounding out the top-five finishers. Congratulations to Fabio Olivieri and the No.16 HRW Automotive Mini Stock team on their first victory.
