by Tommy Goudge (October 18, 2015) – Ohsweken, Ontario – The second season of weekly racing in Ohsweken Speedway’s Crate Sprint Car division saw close competition and steady improvement in car counts. Track officials and partners are pleased with the results of the GM 602 crate engine program, and look forward to building upon the solid foundation in the seasons to come.

Ohsweken’s race teams have proven the Crate Sprint Car concept over the past two seasons, with several other tracks and organizations now implementing a similar model. Ohsweken officials are pleased to announce that their Crate Sprint Car program will continue in 2016 with title sponsor Strickland’s GMC, and approved engine conversion/maintenance facilities Leitch Performance Engines and Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop again on board.

The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car division has seen 11 different A-Feature winners over the first two seasons of competition at Ohsweken, with fields of 15 to 16 cars the norm during the second half of the 2015 season. Several drivers have already used the Crate division as a springboard to success in the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division, including Tyler Hendricks, Dylan Westbrook, and Alex Hill, while several others are planning to make the jump in 2016. The division has already brought many new drivers to dirt track racing, open wheel racing, and to Ohsweken Speedway, with more interested in joining.

Management from other tracks in the area have expressed interest in hosting the division next season. Stay tuned to www.OhswekenSpeedway.com in the coming weeks for more news regarding the 2016 Ohsweken Speedway season.
