OHSWEKEN, Ont. (May 14, 2025) – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returned to Ohsweken for the first time in nearly eight years on Wednesday; David Gravel took the WoO win, while Glenn Styres won the Late Model Open.
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Jordan Thomas started on pole with David Gravel next to him for the 30 lap World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Main. Thomas, a regular Northern Sprint Car Nationals entrant at Ohsweken, had a thunderous start and easily gaining a lead of 2.5 seconds by lap six. WoO points leader Gravel reeled in Thomas for the lead on lap twelve as the leaders worked through traffic. Lap 18 saw the only caution flag of the race, which was caused by debris in turn four.
Carson Macedo capitalized on the restart, rocketing ahead to race with Gravel for the lead. Macedo, winner of the 2017 Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken, was looking for another big payday. Gravel and Macedo traded the lead several times before Gravel solidified his lead again with seven laps to go. Gravel went on to pick up his seventh World of Outlaws win of the season. Next to cross the finish line were Sheldon Haudenschild in second, Macedo third, Bill Balog fourth, and Thomas fifth.
Late Model Open
Brian Speelman started on pole alongside Glenn Styres to take the green flag for the 20 lap Late Model Open. Styres quickly overtook Speelman right before the first caution of the race occurred on lap one. Styres picked up were he left off, leading after the restart. Gregg Haskell briefly got ahead of Styres on lap four but Styres reclaimed the lead the very next lap, turning the dial to eleven as he pulled out a one second lead over the field.
Styres was untouchable for the rest of the race, as he survived a late restart and cruised to victory with a four second lead. Rounding out the top five were Brandon Mowat in second, John McIntyre in third, Speelman fourth, and Cody Vandewynckel fifth.
