OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 16, 2022) – Treyton Lapcevich made history on Tuesday night by winning the inaugural Pinty’s 100 for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Ohsweken Speedway. Paulie Colagiovanni and Mike Bowman each recorded back-to-back wins in the Pinty’s Knights of Thunder 360 Sprint Car series and Action Sprint Tour Crate Sprint Car series fueled by Pinty’s.

NASCAR Pinty’s Series
The long-awaited Pinty’s 100 saw Marc-Antione Camirand and D.J. Kennington start on the front row of the 24 car NASCAR Pinty’s Series stock car field to begin the series’ inaugural dirt race. Camirand quickly put a sizable gap between himself and the rest of the pack. NASCAR and dirt track legend Ken Schrader moved into the second spot while current points leader Kennington slipped into the fifth position. One of the biggest movers in the first 25 lap stage was NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Raphael Lessard, who moved up to eighth after starting in row ten. Five time Ohsweken Speedway champion Dave Bailey finished the first stage in the eighth spot, gaining two positions from the start. Camirand led the first stage flag-to-flag.

Camirand picked up where he left off to start stage two, however the main battle was between NASCAR Truck Series regular Stewart Friesen and teenage sensation Treyton Lapcevich for the second spot. Both drivers were racing for the 22 Racing Team, so they raced each other hard but with great respect. Behind them cars could be seen going four wide and even five wide on some occasions. Lapcevich capitalized on a restart, overtaking Camirand for the lead and holding it to the end of the second 25 lap stage.

The final stage was 50 laps and began with Lapcevich leading while Friesen was right on his bumper. A hard-charging Andrew Ranger made the low side work for a few laps as he challenged for the lead, however Ranger couldn’t complete the pass and blended back into the field. As the laps ticked off, drivers took more chances which led to more cautions; the last caution set up for an epic green-white-checkered finish which came down to the veteran Friesen and the young Lapcevich. The green flag waved and both drivers rocketed away; Friesen got ahead momentarily, but Lapcevich ultimately had the edge over Friesen to take the $25,000 win by 0.219 seconds.

Lapcevich not only won the first ever dirt race in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series history but also picked up his second career NASCAR Pinty’s Series victory. Friesen finished second with last-minute replacement and rookie driver Jake Sheridan in third to take the final spot on the podium. Rounding out the top five were Camirand and former IndyCar driver, Alex Tagliani.

Pinty’s Knights of Thunder 360 Sprint Car Series
Dylan Westbrook and Jacob Dykstra started on the front row to begin the Knights of Thunder A-Main. The third visit of the season for the KoT series saw 24 drivers qualify for the 25 lap A-Main via timed hot laps and a B-Main. Nick Sheridan had a great start, slotting himself into the second position within the opening laps of the race. The yellow flag flew as Jake Brown stalled in turn two; this allowed Sheridan to capitalize on the restart and overtake Westbrook a few laps later. Monday’s winner Paulie Colagiovanni bided his time and eventually took the lead with seven laps to go. Ryan Turner began to hunt down Mitch Brown for the second spot in the closing laps, allowing Colagiovanni to pull away for the win. Brown was nursing a brake issue and could not hold off Turner in the final two laps, crossing the finish line in third place. Colagiovanni made up seven spots to take the back-to-back weeknight wins. The race ended with Colagiovanni taking the $5,000 winner’s prize thanks to Corr/Pak Merchandising, with Ryan Turner second, Brown third, Sheridan fourth, and Westbrook fifth.

Action Sprint Tour Crate Sprint Car series fueled by Pinty’s
Adrian Stahle and Allan Downey brought the field to the green flag to begin The Action Sprint Tour A-Main. A total of 24 drivers qualifed for the 25 lap A-Main via timed hot laps and a B-Main. In a repeat of Monday’s race, Mike Bowman quickly overtook Stahle and Downey for the lead. Pole sitter Stahle fell down the running order as Brett Stratford moved into the third position after starting tenth. Bowman hit all his marks as he began lapping cars; this time however, Darren Dryden was hot on his heels waiting for Bowman to make a mistake. Both drivers raced spectacularly and cleanly while navigating through traffic, putting on an amazing show for the packed crowd. Despite all the pressure and having a looser-driving car compared to the day before, Bowman held off Dryden for his second win in as many nights. The top five finishing order saw Bowman in first with a new 25 lap track record for Crate Sprint Cars, with Dryden second, Stratford third, Lucas Smith fourth, and Luke Stewart fifth.
