OHSWEKEN, Ont. – May 31, 2018 – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce this week’s recipient selected of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week Award is 15 year-old Liam Martin and the No.29 Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car team.
The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.
On Friday, May 25th, during McDonald’s of Brantford and Paris night at Ohsweken, Martin started fifth for the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car 20-lap Feature. The Binbrook, Ont. native behind the wheel of his No.29 Crate Sprint Car took advantage of the improved track surface and drove to the second position by lap six.
He overtook the lead at lap 8 from the No. 12 of Brad Herron. Then, with 3 restarts in the last five laps, Martin continued to hold off Herron for an exciting, edge of your seat finish, winning his first ever Crate Sprint Car Feature race by 0.464 seconds. Congratulations to Liam Martin and the No.29 team for a great race!
Martin will be back in action with the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars for Friday Night Excitement on Friday, June 1 for Auto Parts Centres night featuring NASCAR Legend Ken Schrader and the UMP Modifieds. Also in action are the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars, Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks. Race time is 7:30pm.
