OHSWEKEN, Ont. (June 27, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week for June 21 is Mack DeMan and the No.17x Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car team. The weekly award will showcase a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during the Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.
Friday, June 21 was McDonald’s of Paris and Brantford Emergency Services night and the second live broadcast of All North Racing powered by Pinty’s on MavTV Canada.
Mack DeMan started the 20-lap Feature in the 10th starting position that began with a rollover of Mike Thorne’s Burger Barn car on the pace lap. Although Thorne was unhurt, his car sustained considerable damage and was towed off. The field lined up and once the green flag was dropped, Ryan Turner and Jake Brown led the field into turn one with Turner jumping into the lead over Brown, Scott Kreutter and Shone Evans.
A caution flag was thrown when Dylan Westbrook found himself up at the top of corner four. The restart saw DeMan in the sixth position with Ryan Turner once again in the lead. Ryan Turner and Scott Kreutter were battling hard for the top position while DeMan continued to gain positions on the track and working himself into third. A red flag was thrown on lap seven when contact with a lapped car caused Scott Kreutter flip viciously in the turn three corner. Kreutter was uninjured but the damage to his car was considerable and ended his night and chase for the checkered flag.
The restart put DeMan in second, right behind Ryan Turner. Turner took the high side and DeMan on the bottom as they roared into turn two. By lap-11 Turner and DeMan were maneuvering through lap traffic with Mack DeMan successfully taking the lead over Ryan Turner at lap 12.
Two more cautions at lap 15 and lap 18 saw Ryan Turner, Jake Brown, Mitch Brown and Dylan Westbrook chasing DeMan. Mitch Brown challenged for the top spot as they raced the final lap but DeMan had the momentum on the top side and was able to hold Mitch Brown off and take the checkered flag and his first feature win of the season for a visit to Mister Transmission Victory Lane.
DeMan will be back in action as Ohsweken Speedway returns to action this week when Club 54 Racing presents Sponsor night on June 28. Ohsweken’s popular live video stream will be online in its usual places beginning at 7:30pm before live coverage of the action switches to MavTV Canada at 9:00pm EST.
