OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 6, 2018) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased announce this week’s recipient of the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week award is Mack Deman and the No. 17x Nathan Ackland Racing team.
The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.
After a previous weekend rainout on June 22, Mack DeMan was ready to roll on Friday, June 29th for Friday Night Excitement presented by Lucas Oil Night.
After a successful career in the Crate Sprint Car division where he is the track’s all-time winngiest driver, DeMan jumped to the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car division. DeMan experienced mixed luck in the early going of this 360 Sprint Car debut season. He started the season with two top-fives and three top-10s before a pair of DNFs including an ugly wreck. His luck turned around last Friday night when Deman took the checkered flag for his very first victory in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car division in just his sixth career start.
With DeMan and Ryan Turner on the front row, they took the field to the green flag. DeMan drove to the front for an early lead but a red flag quickly came out on the first lap when Cory Turner saw his night end with an end over end rollover.
Deman took another quick lead on the restart over Turner. By lap five, DeMan was wheeling his way through lap traffic and putting distance between himself and the rest of the field.
Despite a couple of additional restarts, DeMan continued his strong run and maintained the first position. By lap 19 DeMan was splitting lapped track with a half a straightaway lead to take the win over Dylan Westbrook, Jim Huppunen, Tyler Hendricks and Ryan Turner.
Congratulation to Mack DeMan and the No.17x Nathan Ackland Racing team on their first victory and wish him continued success in the 2018 season.
