OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 9, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are pleased to announce the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Performer of the Week for August 2 is Nick Sheridan and the No. 45 Stricklands Brantford Chevrolet Crate Sprint team. The weekly award showcases a driver or team that exhibits outstanding effort and performance during the Friday Night Excitement events at Ohsweken Speedway.

Nick Sheridan and Lucas Smith lead the Action Sprint Tour field to the green flag for the 20-lap feature.

Smith quickly took the lead on the top with Sheridan giving chase.  Despite two quick yellow flag cautions, Smith continued to maintain the lead.  Sheridan held on to the second spot while Derek Lemyre, Paul Klager and Jesse Costa battled for the remaining top five positions.

A caution at lap eight when Johnny Miller found himself backwards in the bottom of three and four had Smith using the top groove to hold the top spot with Sheridan, Costa, Klager and Lemyre giving chase.  Smith extended his lead until lap 13 as the front of the field came into lapped traffic.

Smith made a split-second decision to go inside while Sheridan went outside. As they came down the back-straightaway Sheridan was able to take over the lead at lap 15.  Sheridan continued to put distance between himself and the rest of the field as he worked his way through traffic.

Sheridan gathered momentum using the cushion and wheeled his way into victory lane and captured his first official win of the season.  The recent grade 8 graduate was also recently credited with a win in June due to the technical disqualification of that evening’s winner.

Congratulations to the 14-year old Nick Sheridan and the No. 45 Stricklands Brantford Chevrolet Crate Sprint team on an exciting Mister Transmission victory lane win.

Ohsweken Speedway gets back to its regular schedule of Friday Night Excitement on Friday, August 9 as Renway Energy presents Christmas in August.
