2019 NIGHT BEFORE THE NATIONALS – EVENT FORMAT
Ohsweken Speedway – Friday, September 13, 2019
HEAT RACES:
-Each of the six (6) Heat Races will be eight (8) green flag laps.
-Heat Races will be lined up by pill draw.
-A total of 45 drivers will transfer to an A-Feature; the six (6) heat race winners plus the 39 highest remaining drivers in Ohsweken Speedway passing points.
-There will not be a B-Feature. Drivers who do not transfer are done for the night.
A-FEATURES:
-Each of the three (3) A-Features will be 15 green flag laps, and include a maximum of 15 cars.
-Each A-Feature will be lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points. The driver with the highest Heat Race passing points total will start first in A-Feature #1, the driver with the second-highest passing points total will start first in A-Feature #2, the driver with the third-highest passing points total will start first in A-Feature #3, and so on. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the driver with the lowest pill draw.
-A-Feature winners will have a guaranteed starter position in row five or six (positions 9, 10, or 11) to start the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals A-Feature on Saturday night.

2019 CANADIAN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS – EVENT FORMAT
Ohsweken Speedway – Saturday, September 14, 2019
ORDER OF EVENTS:
–Hot Laps, Qualifications, Heat Races, D-Main, Pole Dash, C-Main, B-Main, A-Main
PILL DRAW:
-The field will be split into three (3) groups, or “Flights”, using a pill draw. Each Flight will include a maximum of 28 drivers. Flight #1 will make up Heat Race #1 and #2, while Flight #2 will make up Heat Race #3 and #4, and Flight #3 will make up Heat Race #5 and #6.
-Each of the three (3) flights will be split into four (4) Qualification groups (1A/1B/1C/1D – 2A/2B/2C/2D – 3A/3B/3C/3D), with each Qualification group consisting of a maximum of seven (7) cars.
*Note – The three (3) Flight format is for a maximum of 84 cars. If more than 84 cars are entered, four (4) Flights and eight (8) Heat Races will be utilized. If more than 78 cars are entered, an E-Main will be added.
HOT LAPS:
-There will be six (6) Hot Lap sessions; Groups 1A and 1B will hot lap together, and so on.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Each Qualification group will get four (4) green flag Qualification laps, with each driver’s fastest of the four (4) laps recorded as their Official Time.
-Drivers must proceed immediately to the scale/technical inspection area after their Qualification session, and before returning to their pit stalls.
-Drivers ranked in odd-numbered positions after their Qualification session will make up the odd-numbered Heat Races, while those ranked in even-numbered positions will make up the even-numbered Heat Races.
HEAT RACES:
-Each Heat Race will be ten (10) green flag laps and include a maximum of 14 cars.
-Heat Races will be lined up by Qualification times, with the top four (4) drivers inverted in each starting lineup.
-The top three (3) finishers in each Heat Race will transfer directly to the A-Main and must proceed immediately to the scale/technical inspection area after their Heat Race, and before returning to their pit stalls.
-Drivers finishing in positions 4-6 will transfer to the B-Main, while drivers finishing in positions 7-9 will transfer to the C-Main, and drivers finishing in positions 10-13 will transfer to the D-Main.
-The top eight (8) drivers in overall Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points who transferred to the A-Main will qualify for the Pole Dash. In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be the driver’s heat race finish. The second tiebreaker will be the driver’s rank within their Qualification Flight. The third tiebreaker will be the driver’s fastest Qualification lap. The fourth tiebreaker will be the lowest pill draw.
D-MAIN:
-The D-Main will be 10 green flag laps, and include a maximum of 24 cars.
-The field will be lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points. The first tiebreaker will be the driver’s Heat Race finish, followed by the tiebreakers listed in the Heat Race section (above).
-The top six (6) finishers will transfer to the C-Main, and must proceed immediately to the scale/technical inspection area before returning to their pit stalls.
C-MAIN:
-The C-Main will be 12 green flag laps, and include a maximum of 24 cars.
-The field will be lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points, except for positions 19-24 which will line up based on the finish of the D-Main. The first tiebreaker will be the driver’s Heat Race finish, followed by the tiebreakers listed in the Heat Race section (above).
-The top six (6) finishers will transfer to the B-Main, and must proceed immediately to the scale/technical inspection area before returning to their pit stalls.
B-MAIN:
-The B-Main will be 15 green flag laps, and include a maximum of 24 cars.
-The field will be lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points, except for positions 19-24 which will line up based on the finish of the C-Main. The first tiebreaker will be the driver’s Heat Race finish, followed by the tiebreakers listed in the Heat Race section (above).
-The top six (6) finishers will transfer to the A-Main, and must proceed immediately to the scale/technical inspection area before returning to their pit stalls.
-Cars finishing in positions 7-12 may be eligible for a provisional A-Main starting position; see Guaranteed Starters and Provisional Starters section below.
POLE DASH:
-The Pole Dash will be five (5) green flag laps, and include a maximum of eight (8) cars.
-The Pole Dash will be lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points. The first tiebreaker will be the driver’s Heat Race finish, followed by the tiebreakers listed in the Heat Race section (above).
-The finishing order of the Pole Dash will determine the starting order for the first four (4) rows of the A-Main
A-MAIN:
-The A-Main will be 35 green flag laps, and include 30 cars; due to provisional/guaranteed starting spots, the maximum number of starters could theoretically reach 35.
-Positions 1-8 will be lined straight up from the Pole Dash finish.
-Positions 9-18* will be made up of the remaining transfer cars from the Heat Races, and lined straight up by Ohsweken Speedway Passing Points. The first tiebreaker will be the driver’s Heat Race finish, followed by the tiebreakers listed in the Heat Race section (above).
-Positions 19-24 will be made up of the transfer cars from the B-Main.
-Positions 25-30 will be made up of provisional starters.
*Positions 9, 10, and 11 may be used by drivers with guaranteed starting spots from Friday night; see Guaranteed Starters and Provisional Starters section below.
GUARANTEED STARTERS & PROVISIONAL STARTERS:
-Guaranteed starter/provisional starter positions* are available to the following drivers:
1. The winners of the three (3) “Night Before the Nationals” A-Mains are guaranteed starting spots in the fifth or sixth row (positions 9, 10, and 11) of Saturday night’s A-Main lineup. If these drivers qualify for the Pole Dash, they will not use their guaranteed starter options. If any of these drivers do not transfer through their heat races, they will be added to the A-Feature lineup BEFORE the B-Features are run; these three guaranteed starters will not run a B-Feature.
2. The winners of the two “Northern Summer Nationals” A-Mains held on July 22 and July 23 are guaranteed starting spots immediately following the B-Main transfer cars in Saturday night’s A-Main lineup. These drivers must make a reasonable attempt to participate in Qualifications, Heat Race, and a D-Main, C-Main, or B-Main to be eligible for this provisional.
3. The highest-ranked driver within the top five in the championship points standings for each of the affiliate sanctions (Ohsweken, SOS, ESS, NRA, PST, and GLSS), ONLY if that affiliate sanction does not already have a representative qualified for the A-Main. Drivers will be asked to confirm their chosen affiliate sanction before their Pill Draw and cannot represent multiple sanctions. Drivers must make a reasonable attempt to participate in Qualifications, Heat Race, and a D-Main, C-Main, or B-Main to be eligible for this provisional.
4. Any remaining A-Main starting positions will be awarded to the next-highest finishers from the B-Main.
*Provisional A-Main starting positions will be used for the Triple 15 winners first, followed by Northern Summer Nationals winners, affiliate sanctions, and finally B-Main finishers.
