CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS (17 entries)
Shane Ross got the better of polesitter Parker Price-Miller at the start of the 360 Sprint Car feature, and led the first 5 laps before Price-Miller made what turned out to be the feature-winning move. Mark Smith, Glenn Styres, and Mitch Brown raced hard for the third position before Smith got clear of them and passed Ross for the second position on lap 7. Ross had an issue with his safety equipment and drove through the pit area two laps later, losing a lap in the process and handing the third position to Styres.

Price-Miller and Smith pulled away from the rest of the field, with Smith occasionally closing the gap as they worked through slower traffic. Tyler Hendricks brought out the only yellow flag of the race on lap 16 when he spun off the track in turn 2. Smith wasn’t able to do make a move on the leader when the race restarted, and Price-Miller went on to claim his second Ohsweken Speedway victory in as many attempts. Smith closed the gap at the end, but settled for the runner-up spot by a margin of 0.924 seconds, followed by Styres, Brown, and Jason Barney.

The win was worth $3,000 to Price-Miller, and guaranteed that he will start no worse than 8th in the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals A-Feature in September.

Styres now has the lead in the championship standings, with Brown 2 points behind, and Todd Hoddick 8 points further back.

DIRTcar 358 MODIFIEDS (14 entries)
The only 358 Modified race of the Ohsweken season produced 6 lead changes among 4 different drivers, and a repeat winner in Mat Williamson. Tyler McPherson pulled away early in the race after a brief joust with polesitter Chad Brachmann, while Mike Bowman used the outside line to slice through the field after starting 7th. Brachmann had his hands full with Mark D’Ilario, with Bowman joining the fight for the second position on lap 5.

Several yellow flags in the middle portion of the race brought Brachmann back into the fight for the lead. Brachmann used the outside line to take the lead from McPherson after the restarts, while D’Ilario and Brandon Easey both crashed out of top 5 spots. Bowman continued to pound the outside groove and passed Brachmann for the lead on lap 17. He immediately pulled away by several car lengths, and looked to have the race in hand.

Williamson had fallen as far back as 6th earlier in the race, but he was up to 3rd on lap 22 when Bowman’s right front wheel locked up and caused him to spin off the end of turn 3. Brachmann chose the outside line for the restart, with Williamson lining up to his inside, and 9th starter Erick Rudolph up to 3rd. Williamson used a slide job to take the lead, leaving Brachmann to fend off Rudolph and 13th starter Bill Bleich. Williamson went on to win by 0.582 seconds, with Rudolph edging out Brachmann for the runner-up spot, followed by Bleich and McPherson.

STRICKLAND’S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS (13 entries)
Josh Shantz parlayed a front row starting spot into his second Crate Sprint Car feature win in 4 days Ohsweken. Shantz took the lead early, while polesitter Aaron Turkey and 4th place starter Alex Hill made contact entering the first turn after completing the first lap. Turkey was able to keep going, but Hill’s car suffered damage, and she slid into the infield on the backstretch after contact with Mike Thorne. Hill was out of the race, while Thorne’s crew changed a flat right rear tire and got him back in the race.

12th starter Dylan Westbrook advanced 3 positions on the first lap, and then quickly moved to 3rd in the next 2 laps after the race restarted. Westbrook moved past Ed Green and into the second position on lap 5, and set his sights on Shantz until contact with the wall did some damage to Westbrook’s car. Westbrook maintained the second spot, but it was clear that he did not have the same pace. Shantz drove to the win by 2.473 seconds over Westbrook, 11th starter Jake Brown, Green, and Turkey.

Westbrook now enjoys a 33 point advantage over Brown in the championship standings.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS (37 entries)
Mark Bazuin moved from 15th to the lead in just 3 laps, and went on to claim his third Mini Stock feature win of the season. The first attempt at starting the race produced contact, with Adam Hallett getting the worst of it. Lucas Lubin and Gillian Hils each led a lap before Bazuin got to the front and took off, leaving the rest of the field to race three and four wide…and sometimes more than that.

Hils maintained the second position until her car began to emit smoke and she dropped through the field. Elliott took over the job of chasing Bazuin, with Chris Ryckman and Jon Janssens in tow. A yellow flag brought Elliott and the rest of the field to Bazuin’s tail, but no closer as Bazuin took the win by 1.556 seconds over Elliott, Janssens, Shone Evans, and Ryckman.

Brandon Janssens is now the leader in the championship standings, but former leader Lungaro is just 3 points behind.
