OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 4, 2025) – Club 54 Racing and Blastall Equipment presented the racing program at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, July 4; Charlie Sandercock, Jacob Dykstra, Dave Bailey, Jeff Elsliger, Rob Pietz, and Jens Mortensen, took A-Main wins.

Northeast Late Model Alliance
Craig Graham and David Pangrazio brought the field to the green flag for the NLMA Crate Late Model A-Main. Graham led the opening laps but got passed by Pangrazio for the lead on lap three. A restart saw Charlie Sandercock become the third race leader after a caution came out on lap four due to Josh Overdulve spinning out.

Sandercock put on a stellar performance as he navigated lap traffic and endured multiple race restarts to pick up another win at Ohsweken after a nail biting green-white-checkered finish. Next to finish were Kyle Sopaz in second, Bradon Mowat third, Pangrazio fourth, and Nathan Rinaldi fifth.

Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars
Josh Verne Jr. started on pole with Jacob Dykstra next to him for the Crate Sprint Car A-Main. Dykstra took the lead on the first lap right before Steve Murdock spun and brought out the caution flag. Another caution came out on lap three, this time for Jeremy May stopped on the track. Dykstra successfully held off the field on the restart, turning up the pace as he began to encounter traffic in just four laps. Verne brought out the red flag as he flipped down the back stretch on the last lap; he was unharmed, but out of the race.

Verne’s crash set up a green-white-checkered finish and a battle between Dykstra and Lance Erskine for the win. Dykstra had a great restart, rocketing ahead of Erskine and taking the win with ease. Erskine crossed the finish line next in second, with Brett Stratford in third, Jesse Costa fourth, and Eric Gledhill fifth.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks
Trevor DeBoer started on pole alongside Ryan Dinning to take the green flag for the 30 lap Brock Leonard Memorial Thunder Stock A-Main. Before a single lap could be completed, there was a pile up which brought out the caution flag. The race restarted with Dinning leading the first official lap. Dinning pulled out a 2.5 second lead by lap ten, however his lead evaporated due to a caution flag coming out on lap thirteen. Ryan Beagle grabbed the lead on the restart and had to defend the lead on four more restarts.

Dave Bailey raced himself into the top three in the closing laps, and then Zack Bleich came to a stop with two laps to go and brought out another caution flag. Bailey got around Beagle in the two-lap dash to the finish to pick up his first Brock Leonard Memorial victory, winning by just .111 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Beagle in second, Dinning third, Spencer Smolders fourth, and DeBoer fifth.

Insta-Insulation Mini Stocks
The front row of the Mini Stock grid featured Doug Erskine and Christopher French to begin the 15 lap A-Main. Erskine led the first lap, however the race quickly came to a halt due to a caution on lap two. The restart saw Jeff Elsliger take the lead away from Erskine.

Once Elsliger got the lead, there was nothing that could take it away from him as he held of the field through two more restarts and finished ahead by over three seconds. Next to finish were Tim DeBoer in second, Brandon Crumbie third, Wayde Thorne fourth, and John Lubeck fifth.

Vintage Modifieds
Bill Profota and Alan Wood started on the front row to start the 15 lap Vintage Modifieds A-Main. The race featured two classes of Vintage Modifieds competing together – 30’s-60’s era cars in one class, and 70’s-80’s era cars in the other. Bill Profota defended his pole position to lead the first lap while the rest of the competitors settled into their positions.

Rob Pietz set a blazing pace over the field as he claimed the lead on lap four after starting thirteenth on the grid. The race ran caution-free allowing Pietz to win the race by over four seconds. Pietz finished first in the overall race and first for 70’s-80’s era cars, while Jen Mortensen was fifth overall and first across the line from the 30’s-60’s era class.

Up Next at Ohsweken Speedway
Strickland’s and Abate & Associates present the Summer Sprint Showcase with a $5,000 winner’s prize on the line for 360 Sprint Cars on Friday, July 11. The Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars, Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks, and Insta-Insulation Mini Stocks will all be in action.
