OHSWEKEN (August 14, 2023) – Ken Schrader picked up his first NASCAR Pinty’s Series win on Monday night at Ohsweken Speedway, while Mike Bowman swept both Sit’N Bull Tire Sprint Car Shootout races.

NASCAR Pinty’s Series
The Freshstone Dirt Classic saw Ken Schrader and Treyten Lapcevich start on the front row of the 24 car NASCAR Pinty’s Series stock car field. Schrader led the first lap, followed by Alex Tagliani leading lap two. The rest of the field were in an intense battle to gain positions as quickly as possible. Lapcevich became the new race leader on lap four, setting a significant pace over the rest of the field. On lap 13 Lapcevich began to encounter traffic, however this did not slow him down as he finished Stage One in the first position.

Stage Two began where Lapcevich left off as he once again put a sizable margin over the field. A caution came out when Glenn Styres went for a spin, collecting Tagliani. NASCAR Truck Series star and dirt track ace Stewart Friesen found himself racing in the fourth position with four laps left to go in Stage Two. Lapcevich put on a show, as he didn’t succumb to the pressure that Schrader was applying in the closing laps and finished Stage Two in first.

The Final Stage started off more furious compared to the previous stages, as the drivers had saved their equipment for the second half of the race. Lapcevich built up a heathy lead as Kevin Lacroix began to battle against Schrader for the second position. Schrader got the better of Lacroix and restarted his pursuit of Lapcevich.

Lap 79 shook up the race as Mike Goudie made contact into the backstretch wall, bouncing back into the leader Lapcevich as he was going a lap down. Schrader capitalized on the situation, quickly taking the first position away from Lapcevich. This incident was the undoing of Lapcevich’s race as he fell down the order.

Schrader, a veteran dirt track start who claimed a UMP Modified win at Ohsweken Speedway earlier in the year, gained a three second lead over the field. This allowed him to comfortably pick up his first NASCAR Pinty’s Series win in his second start in the series. Rounding out the top five were Lacroix in second, D.J. Kennington third, Lapcevich fourth, and Marc-Antoine Camirand fifth.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars
The Sit’n Bull Tire Shootout had Eric Gledhill and Cory Turner starting on the front row to begin the 25 lap 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Cory Turner was able to get around Gledhill and lead the first seven laps. NASCAR Truck Series regular and dirt track ace Stewart Friesen quickly entered the top five after starting in eleventh on the grid while Mike Bowman swept into the lead on lap seven.

The lap counter quickly ticked down while Friesen hunted down Cory Turner for the second spot, eventually overtaking Turner. Bowman took advantage of their battle and extended his lead further; this proved to be his key to success as he picked up the victory and the $10,000 grand prize from Sit’N Bull Tire. Rounding out the top five were Friesen in second, Cory Turner third, Dylan Westbrook fourth, and Matt Farnham fifth.

Oakwood Transport Action Sprint Tour West
John Cadman and Dale Curran brought the field to the green flag for the 25 lap Crate Sprint Car A-Main. Cadman rocketed out in front of the field, leading the first three laps. Mike Bowman charged his way into first after finding a line that worked perfectly for his setup; this allowed him to thread through traffic, putting a three second margin over the field.

The rest of the field were racing hard but fair as there were no cautions throughout the entire race. Bowman was the head of the class as he crossed the finish line with only three cars left on the lead lap and picked up the $5,000 grand prize from Sit’N Bull Tire. Next to cross the finish line were Cadman in second, Rob Neely third, Mack DeMan fourth, and Matt Billings fifth.
