by Tommy Goudge (June 25, 2015) – Ohsweken, Ontario – Ohsweken Speedway’s 20th season of racing continues this Friday, June 26 when McDonald’s Restaurants of Brantford & Paris present Sportsman Shootout night. The event features the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, along with Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, & Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers.
The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds return this Friday for the division’s only visit to Ohsweken this season. Formerly a weekly division at Ohsweken, the class has produced several current Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division regulars, including 2010 champion Dave Dykstra.
The Sportsman Shootout shifts the rivalry between Gary Lindberg and Brad Rouse to Ohsweken, as the two drivers have dominated the Sportsman divisions at Merrittville Speedway and Humberstone Speedway this season. Lindberg won the 2013 Sportsman Shootout at Ohsweken, while Rouse was the 2014 winner of the event. Also among the strong field expected on Friday is two-time Ohsweken track champion Jay Mallory, who leads the all-time DIRTcar sanctioned feature wins list at Ohsweken.
An average of 130 drivers have signed in for each of the first four rounds of the 2015 season at Ohsweken, with the five weekly racing series divisions producing close championship standings, and 19 different feature winners. Racing will take the green flag at 7:30pm this Friday, June 26. Adult general admission is $12, while seniors and students are $10, kids age 7-12 are $2, and kids age 6 and under are FREE.
