WESTBROOK, MCDONALD, DINNING, HOSKINS AND LONGBOAT WIN ON CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT

The 2016 championship chase came to a close on Friday night as all five division competed in their final points nights of the season. At the end of the evening two drivers repeated as champions while three others claimed their first titles.

In the Kool Kidz Corr/Pak Sprint Cars Dylan Westbrook grabbed the early lead and lapped all but four cars on his way to his fourth win of the season. Cory Turner and Jim Huppunen joined Westbrook on the podium while Mitch Brown was crowned the 2016 champion.

The closest battle in points was in the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car division where Holly Porter held a slim 4 point advantage going into the evening over Jesse McDonald. It was McDonald who made the most of the evening by winning the feature. The victory helped him clinch the title and Rookie of the Year honours to go with it. Brad Herron and Josh Shantz finished second and third in the 25 lap main event.

The top three drivers in the Thunder Stock standings duked it out for the race win with Ryan Dinning taking the checkers. Karl Sault finished a close second while Dave Bailey was third. Bailey captured his second straight division championship over Sault and Dinning.

Another repeat champion was crowned in the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks as Brandon Janssens secured the title over rookie driver Brandon Crumbie. Rob Hoskins won the 20 lap race over Mark Bazuin and Crumbie.

In the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers Paul Longboat won the 15 lap feature while brother Dustin clinched the 2016 championship with a second place finish. Jake Maas completed the top three.
